Ok so when I was 36 and 1/2 weeks pregnant I
get a call from Kyle's mom. She invites me to drive to Utah with her to
go to Spencer Kelly's mission homecoming. When she called I said no I
was too pregnant. As the day progressed I couldn't help, but think "why
not?" a free trip to UT I can't pass that up. I knew when we would be
coming back I would basically be 38 weeks along. Maddie was born at 38
and 1/2 weeks and Kyle the day before her due date. I thought for sure
everything would be fine plus I felt good about my decision. I talked to
Kyle about it and he wasn't too sure about the idea. I knew he thought I
should stay, but he said I could do what I wanted. He went to play
basketball and I kept going back and forth. I also called my sisters to
see what they though. Kira was like definitely "no" she said it was too
close and I would probably have my baby. I didn't like that answer so I
called Kelsey. She at first said it probably wasn't a good idea, but
then she found out my mom in law would be driving and said to come. I
liked her answer a lot better so I decided to go. By the time Kyle got
back from b-ball I was packed and ready to go. His parents got there
that evening and we would be leaving in the morning. This decision all
happened in one day. She called in the morning and I was packed by the
evening.
When I told his mom she said ok. In the morning
however, she told me that she woke up at 5am worried about having me go.
It didn't deter me at all. We left and had a great drive to Utah. We
stayed at Kyle's brother's house Friday and Saturday and ate wonderful
food. Kyle and Maddie had a blast because they have 5 kids so I never
saw them. The other reason I wanted to go to UT was to meet Kaden, Kirk
and Christy's youngest boy. He is already 4 months old and if I didn't
go now he would probably be a year old before I met him. Sunday we went
to Spencer's sacrament and heard him speak and then spent the rest of
the day with his family and stayed the night there. The Kelly's are like
a second family to me and it was so good to see everyone.
The
next day I headed over to Kira's and hung out with her all day. She had
just started potty training Jeffrey so we had fun with that all day:)
That night we had FHE with my family which included: Kira, Katelyn &
Dalton, Simon & Kelsey, and my girls. Jeff stayed at home with
Jeffrey because he went to bed. I stayed the night at Kelsey's. My trip
was going amazingly. The next morning I woke up and when I went to the
bathroom I noticed this mucus with blood in it. I was worried that
something might be wrong. This was 6 in the morning Tuesday. I called
Kyle before he left for work and he told me not to worry that it was
probably nothing. I decided to do some research online (you find
everything online) and found out it was probably my mucus plug. This had
never happened with my other two. (I know way more information then you wanted to know) All the information I read said it
just meant the baby would come probably within two weeks. I few comments
I read said it could be hours or days. Majority however, said probably a
week or two. I had a feeling in my gut thought that baby Phoebe would
not be long in coming. That night when I talked to Kyle I told him I was
pretty sure Phoebe was coming and that he should work on his sub plans.
He disregarded what I said and told me not to worry. (like that
happened). Simon gave me a blessing and the first words out of his mouth
were "All is well" it was a very short blessing and those were the only
words I heard or remembered. I felt very calm after the blessing and
knew that everything would work out.
Everyone went to
bed, but I couldn't sleep. I think I watched TV or read some. At a
11:50pm I felt the first contraction...and I knew it was time. Deep down
I was hoping it was a false alarm, but knew it wasn't. Contractions
were about 10 min. apart for a couple of hours. After which I called
Kyle at 1:30 in the morning and told him Phoebe was on her way. I told
him to go back to sleep and get a few hours of sleep and then leave. He
had gone to be late and he is of no use what so ever if he does not get
sleep. I then got my bag together took a shower and waited. When my
contractions were about 4 min. apart I woke up Kelsey and told her she
better get ready.
She took a shower and I called the hospital to see
what the procedure was for people from out of state. She said to come in
and I could to the paper work whenever. I asked who the on call Dr. was
and she said Dr. Young. I had a really bad experience when he delivered
Kylie and I voiced my concern to the nurse. She said there was nothing
she could do since I was from out of state. I knew it probably wouldn't
be as bad this time around and I knew it would work out. We got to the
hospital around 4:30am and checked in. I was only at a 4. When the
contractions started to come stronger they moved me upstairs. I had
already decided I was getting an epidural so I told them I was ready for
that. I think it was around 8:30 when I got it. Dr. Taylor was the
anesthesiologist who also gave me an epidural with Kylie. I loved him.
They checked to see how far dilated I was afterwards and said I was a
7+. Dr. Young came in during this time and said he remembered that I
used to be Dr. Harward's patient so he went and asked him if he wanted
to deliver me and he said yes! I couldn't have been happier. I was so
grateful to Dr. Young for thinking of this.
At 11:29 Dr. Harward came in
and at a11:33 Phoebe was born. It went so smoothly and I felt so
amazing. Giving birth is one of the most beautiful things in life. It is
such a miracle. Kesley was great support and got to cut the umbilical
chord. I was sad Kyle missed it, but knew it would be a great story. She
was 6 lbs. 10 oz. 18 in. long with dark black hair. She is perfect in
every way. I also forgot to mention that she was born 2/13/13. I guess
she wanted to share birthdays with her big sister Kylie. I was so
grateful to everyone who made her birthday amazing. She had such a fun
day. When they came later that day to meet Phoebe we asked her what she
thought of sharing a birthday. She exclaimed "that's cool I have never
done that before!" she was very excited.
Kyle
arrived around 4:00pm and I was so happy to see him. He made record time
driving and he was excited to meet his knew daughter. He blamed Kelsey
for everything, because she has been asking with each of girls if she
could come in for the labor and delivery. I always said NO WAY! But she
got her wish and was great. Kyle said she probably prayed for it. I
agree with him. Ok I know it was really my fault. Everything went so
amazingly. My parents and siblings were able to come down from Idaho and
my whole family was able to meet Phoebe. If she had been born in CA
they wouldn't have been able to come until June. Even though it was
extremely crazy it was a huge blessing for me. We ended up leaving the
following Tuesday night. Luckily Kyle had the whole President's week off
(huge blessing). Our drive back home went smoothly. We stopped in St.
George for the night and that really helped to break up the trip. Phoebe
slept the whole way in between feedings. Maddie was the only one who
went a little crazy at times, but that is to be expected from a 2 year
old. It feels so good to be home now and we are doing wonderful.
How crazy! I'm glad everything worked out okay in the end, even though a little sad Kyle couldn't be there.
